One of our course directors
Garreth has been involved with the elective since 2006 when he helped it transition from FM to EM as a student. As faculty he helped it transition to a new institution and now has helped it transition from Utah to Maine.
He is also FAWM, FACEP and serves locally as Medical Advisor Maine Region National Ski Patrol and Saddleback Ski Patrol

Also a course director, Ming is a graduate from the Maine Med EM residency and still lives and works in Maine. He is a registered Maine hunting and recreation guide and enjoys anything outdoors in all four seasons!

Kim is our program coordinator for this elective. With nearly 20 years experience at MHMMCP she will be your primary contact and excellent resource in navigating the school systems. She loves the outdoors but not enough to join the wilderness portion of the elective!
Sara is a former course director. She began her career teaching wilderness medicine with NOLS. She brings a true expertise as a medical educator.

Matt is a former course director and arguably founder If this this elective; also he is Maine EMS medical director, medical director for Portland FD, and the medical director for Baxter State Park. He helped found a search and rescue team and was likely the most instrumental piece in bringing this elective from the FM department to the EM department. He brings true expertise and infectious enthusiasm for volunteerism.

Tom has been helping teach this elective intermittently for more than 10 years. He brings a vast experience in mountain and swift water travel.

A variety of other faculty with expertise in wilderness travel and medicine will vary from year to year.
