Our elective can accommodate 8 students total. 4 are reserved for TUSM. Students must be in their fourth year. These spots are selected via the mini-lottery system. Please watch for an email from the registrar's office regarding the elective to come in the spring prior to the elective, typically in mid-April.
As noted, 4 of 8 spots are reserved for visiting students. Students must have completed both a medicine and surgery clerkship, preference is given to fourth year students. Applications are via the VSLO system and applicants must be eligible for TUSM electives. This elective is listed as EMR417-MM. Please see schedule page for specific dates.
We bring two residents on our elective each year. We give preference for MMC EM residents, then MMC non-EM residents, and finally residents from other programs. Please contact us if you are interested.
Logistics that are important for planning:
1) Students are able to obtain a SLOE from this elective.
2) Students are responsible for finding their own housing while in Portland. MMC has resources to help with this, please ask when applying. During our time in the woods these logistics are covered.
